Desolation Sound is a large area, approximately 130 miles if you were to do the right-hand rule (following the perimeter), which is unattainable in 1 day. But it is possible to do the entire sound and hit almost all of the hotspots in a single day with an early start and a well-planned route!
Leaving Lund, we will head around Major rock and the Copeland Islands, to Sarah Point, north-east up Homphray channel which will encapsulate Mink island, entrance of Tenedos bay Prideaux Haven, Forbes bay and Atwood bay, Entrance to Toba inlet, west down Pryce Channel around the north end of of the Redonda Islands, south west down deer passage and redonda bay, south down lewis channel and into Teakerne arm and Cassel falls, finally south bound on the inside passage of the Copelands and back to Lund.
